Ciencia y manipulación discursiva en Legiones y Falanges: «Características raciales del comunismo»

Sobre todo en algunos contextos socio-políticos, la prensa puede ser vehículo de ideología e instrumento para manipular la consciencia de los lectores. Es lo que sucede en la revista Legiones y falanges (1940-43), voz de la joven dictadura fascista. En este trabajo, a través del análisis de un artículo del "psiquiatra del régimen", se demuestra cómo incluso el discurso científico se convierte en un medio imprescindible para la autolegitimación y justificación de las medidas represivas adoptadas por el gobierno.
Arguing to convince: the rhetoric of scientific discourse

This paper deals with scientific discourse as a rhetorical discourse from the point of view of the structure of the classical parts of oral discourse (and all kinds of discourse). The role of argumentation in discourse, with the perlocutionary goal of convincing the receiver, is studied as the foundation of the rhetorical nature of scientific discourse. A scientific treatise by Santiago Ramón y Cajal is analysed using the tools provided by rhetoric in order to prove the rhetorical nature of scientific discourse. The main contribution of this paper is to establish the crucial role of argumentation in scientific discourse and to demonstrate its permeation of the entire discourse.

Scientific facts are broadcasted through the media are part of the cultural heri-tage of this Society. In Spain, the presence of scientific content in audiovisual media is scarce. By the way, on press, are more elaborate, and the tendency is to give more coverage to scientific news, for reasons we’ll argüe throughout this paper. It’s important fact to assess the construction process of science journalism media and the process of recontextualization of speech, once stories will be moved from the scientific press to the media.
